Investigation revealed that the student was at his classmate's boarding house in Barangay Espinosa when the watchman passed by. Because he was loud, the student reportedly caught the attention of the watchman who was allegedly drunk at that time. The watchman allegedly got upset and stayed close to the boarding house, watching the movements inside. When he reportedly sawthe student go down to the ground floor, he went inside the boarding house and followed him to the restroom.
There, he shot the student several times."Nagkataon, Sir, nung nandun na sila sa loob , bumaba itong biktima para mag-CR o doon sa comfort room, kaya lang nandoon pala itong suspek at inabangan pala siya kaya sinundan siya doon sa comfort room at doon na siya binaril," Police Lt. Col. Ariel Neri, the chief of police in Masbate City, said.The student sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
