The Sussexes visited the family of Irma Garcia, 48, who was shot dead at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde in Texas in 2022. The couple brought flowers and a cake, before singing Happy Birthday to the mother of Ms Garcia’s nephew John Martinez.
The Sussexes visit comes after a report into the local police’s response on the day left parents furious. Meghan with a birthday cake for Mr Martinez’s mum Officers had waited outside the school for more than an hour during the shooting, despite children inside calling 911 and begging for help. The Mayor at the time, Don McLaughlin ordered an independent investigation into the handling and a probe was launched.
