Almost two years after the deadly school shooting at Robb Elementary, which left 19 children and two teachers dead, Uvalde City Council discusses the results of an independent investigation into the police response.

Uvalde police made "many failures" when responding to a gunman who killed 19 students and two teachers at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school in 2022, the investigator who led the city's probe of its local officers said Thursday.

Tensions remain high between Uvalde city officials and the local prosecutor, while the community of more than 15,000, about 85 miles southwest of San Antonio, is plagued with trauma and divided over accountability. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the victims "deserved better" as he presented the Justice Department's findings to the affected families in Uvalde.
