Geauga County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating a crash involving a school bus.

Published: Mar. 1, 2024 at 8:31 AM ESTMIDDLEFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Geauga County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating a crash involving a Cardinal Local School District bus.

The crash happened at approximately 7:35 a.m. in the 16700 block of Kinsman Road in Middlefield Township.Middlefield Fire Department officials said a sanitary truck hit the stopped bus because of the sun in the driver’s eyes. A second car then hit the back of the truck before rolling over. MFD officials confirmed the children were taken released to their parents and were advised to get checked out at local hospitals.

First responders transported the drivers of the car and truck to local hospitals and were treated for minor injuries, MFD officials said.GCSO officials confirmed the Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into the crash.19 News previously received information saying six children were on board of the bus at the time of the crash.
