Police said Moore, a basketball player, was leaving school and walking down Palamar Drive in the Lanham area around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2023, when a fight broke out between two groups with an ongoing dispute. Moore was shot when she tried to intervene and died a little later at a hospital, police said.The shooting led to a temporary lockdown of both DuVal High School and Robert Goddard Montessori School as police investigated.
Days later, police said they had arrested a 17-year-old boy, from Glenarden, who was charged as an adult and faces first- and second-degree murder, assault and firearms charges.“These are serious crimes that carry life sentences,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said, in reference to the September arrest. “We have in many cases held young people accountable for adult crimes in adult court.
Moore’s father, Glendon Reid, previously said his daughter had dreamed of playing professional basketball in the WNBA.
