The successful candidate will use single-cell RNA sequencing, animal models of myelin regeneration, and rejuvenation strategies to improve myelin regeneration in mice and people. The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary research team focusing on myelin regeneration, immunology, and MS and how age impacts myelin regeneration. Dr. Plemel is a Canada Research Chair whose group studies how brain macrophages, called microglia, can promote regeneration and damage under different conditions.
-Use new single-cell transcriptomics strategies to understand how immune cells change with age and stage of myelin regeneration.-Collaborate with other members of the Plemel labs to achieve research goals.Strong written and verbal skills in English are essential, as is the ability to work well in a team environment. We seek someone who is curious, perseverant, organized, and flexible, able to learn new approaches and analyze multidimensional data. Must have a Ph.D.
