SEATTLE — Seattle Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed on a Link light rail train Sunday night.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers were called to a report of a 26-year-old man who was shot on a train between the Pioneer Square and University Street stations. Police arrived at the University Street Station inside the Downtown Seattle transit tunnel and found the injured man. Officers tried to revive the man, but he died.Homicide detectives are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.
During the investigation, officers blocked off the escalators going to the transit tunnel at Third Avenue and University Street. The entrance has since reopened. The investigation affected Link light rail service. Shuttle buses replaced the 1 Line between Pioneer Square and Westlake while police investigated. At 5:41 a.m., Sound Transit said that Link light rail was back in service.All clear: Link Shuttle buses will be replacing the 1 Line between Pioneer Sq & Westlake until further notice.
