We sought to take stock of what it feels like to live in the city, by exploring factors that determine our quality of life. We examined weather, natural environment, open space, physical activity, social connections, relationships, and access to jobs and education. The result was a series with 11,258 words, across 12 articles, as well as graphs, tables, maps, photos, and cover art. We focused on the here-and-now and avoided politics and future changes.
Our efforts depended on data quality, recent research relevance, and subject-matter experts. We ranked Brisbane and other cities on some indicators and included subjective and locally relevant accounts. We want our readers to help us improve our approach next time
