Guinness World Records has removed the record for oldest dog ever from Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo believed to be 31 years old when he died in October, after an internal review found insufficient evidence to support Bobi’s age claim.Copyright 2023 The Associated Press.
Mark McKinley, Guinness World Records’ Director of Records, said the group requires a minimum of two statements from “witnesses and subject experts,” in addition to consideration for pictures and video. Bobi’s owner has been notified, according to Guinness World Records, which added it would “gladly assess any new evidence should we receive any.”McKinley said it would “take a long time” to determine the next record holder, adding the group will now “require documentary evidence for all years of a pet’s life.”his dog’s record in an email to the Associated Press, claiming Guinness World Records spent a year confirming Bobi’s age.
