A photo of the patient's meal, posted to social media by his daughter, went viral as many criticised the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for a beige meal with no vegetables in sight.

A Glasgow hospital has apologised after coming under fire for a viral photo of a meal served to a patient and described by his daughter as 'disgusting'.

The image shows a beige meal, thought to be turkey with four roast potatoes and some gravy. There are no vegetables on the plate. One person said: "That's disgusting. Not one green vegetable on the plate either. A friend's mother was in the QE over Christmas. The food was so bad that they ended up cooking all of her meals from scratch and then taking them up to the hospital. It's shocking."
