A project at Hautes Capelles Primary School has seen pupils eating more fruit and vegetables.

Hautes Capelles Primary School in St Sampson has been giving out portions of fruit and vegetables as part of a new snack regime.

It is part of attempts to get children at the school to eat five portions of fruit or vegetables during the day.'So enthusiastic' Teacher Stephanie Exall, the eat well lead at the school, said pupils views were listened to before the scheme launched at the start of the Spring term. She said: "They've been so enthusiastic, developing ideas and keeping both parents and pupils informed of the changes.

"They even ran an assembly at the start of term where they handed out fruit and veg to help kick-start the new breaktime policy.""It's going to benefit the children... because they're going to begin gravitating toward eating healthily," said parent Chonya Mwambazi.
