Freedom Preparatory Academy had its application denied by the Montgomery Public Schools Board of Education.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montgomery public school system held its monthly work session Tuesday, which included a special meeting to find out if Montgomery will be home to another charter school.

If accepted, it would have made a total of three charter schools in Montgomery. However, school officials will have to revise their plan. Due to concerns about curriculum, transportation and budget, the school’s application was denied unanimously. While the meeting didn’t go as planned for Freedom Preparatory Academy, it was still a busy night with a lot on the agenda. One of the items on the agenda concerned the pay rate of part-time nurses. Montgomery currently pays a little over $13 per hour, a lot lower than other districts.
