Sky News host Peta Credlin has called for the Prime Minister to start listening to Australians about how to close the gap instead of “lecturing” people. Anthony Albanese confirmed his government was still pushing on with the Makarrata Commission or treaty commission at the same time as he was encouraging the states to do treaties of their own.
“The Aboriginal people who live in our cities and towns, who go to schools and universities, who have jobs and who start businesses, who have seats in the parliament and jobs in the media – they are not disadvantaged,” Ms Credlin said. “It’s those who don’t go to school, live in places where there are no jobs, that have the poor life outcomes that produce the dire overall statistics, and that’s mostly those who live in very remote Australia
