Ann, a parent of both a middle and a high schooler, thanked the council for taking the issue seriously after telling them her family has experienced bullying on multiple occasions. However, the resolution faced criticism from at least one citizen, with a written comment read into the record by city staff, labeling the move as a "political hit job" on Cline.

The Salt Lake City Council also posted to social media Monday evening responding to Cline's recent actions.
