Pearl Creek Elementary and Monroe Catholic High School both faced threats of a school shooting on Feb. 8.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - On Feb. 8, the Alaska State Troopers responded to two separate, unconnected threats of a school shooter and schools in the Fairbanks area.

On Feb. 8, AST conducted a five hour investigation at the school to identify the person who left the note. While investigation took place, parents of students were also informed of the threat and were told they could pick their child up early citing safety concerns. The other threat involved Monroe Catholic High School. According to Cpt. Eric Spitzer, the commanding trooper for the Fairbanks area, students of the school had reported an online conversation where someone “jokingly” said that “it would be nothing for me to shoot up the school.” The conversation also involved a list of targets and one of the involved parties said to another that “ be number three on my list.
