Schools in Leeds have announced they will be shut on Thursday afternoon as the Met Office issues amber and yellow weather warnings for snow. Leeds and other parts of West Yorkshire have been issued an amber weather warning for snow on Thursday . Other parts of Sheffield, the Peak District, Huddersfield and Bradford have also been issued a severe amber warning for snow today.
Travel services, roads and power are all likely to be affected throughout the day and the Met Office has warned some rural communities are at risk of being 'cut off'. Traffic and travel services have been heavily disrupted today as some roads have become impassable.Following the chaos on the roads in Leeds and Yorkshire today some schools have now announced they will shut this afternoon to allow pupils to get home before the weather conditions worsen.
