SAN MARCOS — Jose Carrillo was hard to miss. Standing in the concession line at Texas State University’s Bobcat Stadium, Carrillo was wearing a wide grin — and an inflatable cow costume. “I got to pop off for my Bobcats,” said Carrillo, who graduated last semester and was part of the crowd of more than 22,000 fans who turned out on Oct. 28 to watch Texas State take on Troy University.
7 million in scholarship endowments in the 2022-23 school year, according to the university. Another $1.7 million came in through memberships, sport-specific giving, seat contributions and suite sales. Texas State has been aiming to become a top-tier research institution for some time. Success in football could help make that happen, Damphousse said, because getting alumni to donate has been easier since the Bobcats started winning.
