Planning permission for the new facility has been granted with building work due to begin late next year

Perth and Kinross Council has been unsuccessful in securing Scottish Government funding to build a new primary school at Bertha Park in Perth.

A Perth councillor described the news - delivered to PKC's Property Sub-committee on Monday, November 6 - as "really disappointing". He told the committee: "Obviously with inflation in projects across the country only 10 councils have been successful. Unfortunately Perth and Kinross Council was not one of them."

Mr Boland told councillors: "I can confirm the council has £24 million set aside for the project so currently we believe that will fund the new school. In addition - as part of the Section 75 agreement - we will receive developer contributions towards the cost of the school as well."
