Education Minister Lisa Thompson announced a number of changes last Friday that included modifications to the sex-ed curriculum and a “back-to-basics” approach to math. But among the most controversial were increases to class sizes for high school and some elementary grades over the next four years. The average class size would increase by one student in grades 4 to 8, and from 22 to 28 students in high school, she said.

“As school boards lose funding, they will find themselves harder and harder pressed to meet contractual obligations. They will likely look for [concessions] to collective agreements regarding class size maximums," Mr. Bischof said, adding that,"to be absolutely clear, we will not concede [any]. “They’ve created conflict situations at both the central and local bargaining tables that I think are going to be very, very difficult to overcome without some sort of disruption being entirely possible,” he said.

So the union doesn’t want to see job losses, even if it is the right thing to do?

I don’t like autism changes and person in charge there shouldn’t . My son is high functioning looks for job everyday out of graduating College and can’t even get a dishwasher job cause he’s instantly judged . My boy just wants to work and he’s out of college 2 years now .

I voted for these twits !!! Hey PC government stop running over everybody and start listening! You are running over everyone and let me tell you your failing and upsetting Apple Cart , Doug stop talking cause you sound like your reading a bad script . know you can be wrong !

Anyone wanting to stand up in front of 28 workplace kids in grade 11 and think it is a cup of tea go volunteer in your local school. 99% of you won’t last the period let alone the day. LisaThompsonMPP would be the first person to flee out of the classroom. She has no clue !

If teaching is as easy and lucrative as so many here seem to think, why dont you all do it?

But teachers will trade bigger classes for another dozen PD days and even fewer hours of instruction time in the classroom.

Guys if you talk to teachers they often DO care more about the effect cuts will have on the students more than they do about themselves. Look to the recent strikes in Cali. 🇺🇸 where they fought for more resources without pay raises. Teachers work hard for your kids. Support them.

Unions spouting job loses when the real problem is the welfare of the kids.

They could have cut class sizes in half and the union would still have found something to complain about. In my experience they don't even speak for most teachers outside of contract talks.

Look to BC. Didn't Work Out too Well. Major Shortage of Teachers Now.

Suck it up and do your job as teachers!

Idiot

Teachers do your jobs! They take a sick and personal day off a week AND At least one PA day a month! Enough is Enough! Put our tax money 💰 we pay you to work once and for all!

An elite and protected group of workers.

Ontario PCs Are In For A Fight On Class Sizes, Teachers' Union SaysThe government wants to hike class sizes and cut grants for education. The age old conservative tactic...keep the population stupid so you can continue to trick them! Fortunately teachers will fight for quality education. weneedtostaygloballycompetitive qualityeducationcosts The issue is that countries with far higher class levels are destroying our children in sciences, maths, etc. But progressives are wired to choose by looks, not how it works. This will be headed to the courts. Crusty Clarkes years long war on public education in BC eventually went to the SCOC where she lost. Ontario need to look at what Crusty's war did to BC's students.

Ontario’s mandatory class for parents seeking vaccine exemptions has ‘zero conversions’Since it was introduced in 2017, thousands of mothers and fathers have collected their “Vaccine Education Certificate,” then continued to duck the shots for their children How about we just make vaccines mandatory for kids to attend school. And while we're at it, fine parents who don't protect their children against preventable and sometimes deadly diseases. antivax free riding isn't just bad for our economy, it's also bad for our society and wellbeing. obviously antivaxers do not care for the wellbeing of others, why should we be forced to care about their obnoxious opinion. 1984 attempt. Absolutely pathetic.
