Yet another Brexit-related problem...

Irish Union of Students believe that Ireland will have the highest university fees in the EU after BrexitIf Brexit occurs, the Union of Students in Ireland believe that Irish students will have to pay the highest university fees in the European Union.

At a recent protest that occurred at Dublin's Trinity College, third level students and staff called on the government to respond to the growing issues associated with higher education funding. In a post-Brexit environment, USI predict that at €3,000, Ireland will have the highest university fees in the EU."Currently, the annual student contribution charge stands at a staggering €3,000. Between the years 2007-2014, this increased by a whopping 363 per cent.

"The sobering facts for students today is that at €3,000, Ireland will have the highest fees in the EU after Brexit."Meanwhile, Susi grants have not increased for students in line with the cost of living and soaring rents in Ireland today.” Over the last decade, austerity measures saw a period of cost-cutting and while the government have insisted that they've invested heavily in third-level education in recent years, and will do so in the next budget, campaigners say that only a fraction of what was cut has been replaced.
