A student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst was arrested after allegedly assaulting a fellow student and spitting on an Israel flag last week.
The incident reportedly took place during a “solidarity walk” on campus by UMass Hillel which featured symbolic Shabbat tables with empty seats reserved for the Israeli hostages taken by Hamas. During the event, the suspect walked through the crowd and “aggressively” gave students the middle finger, UMass HillelThis same individual returned at the end of the event and allegedly punched a Jewish student holding an Israel flag before taking the flag and spitting on it.
. “Let us be clear, these were the actions of an individual who did not speak for nor act on behalf of a group or anyone other than themselves. Peaceful advocacy and protest must and will be protected on our campus.”Campuses across the country are continuing to see a rise in antisemitic actions as Israel continues to retaliate against Hamas terrorists.
