Surfing at school is no big deal in the coastal Victorian town of Warrnambool, where the state-funded Warrnambool College has had a surf program for 30 years.chilly Southern Ocean, students learn about rips, currents and water safety, first aid and marine ecology.
"A couple of years ago the school was looking at different ways to get more out of the program provide a bit more rigour and more opportunities for our students," Mr Dennis said. "This is the peak of their assessment in terms of sharing that skill set and teaching others, supporting others to get the same enjoyment out of surfing that they do," he said.Warrnambool College year 10 student Yossi Marom has stepped effortlessly into his new responsibilities."I've been teaching them how to paddle, so how to catch a wave," Yossi said."It's very hard to stand up, but once they do, they have the biggest smile on their faces.
