Lee County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Smiths Station High School on a report of a student in the gym with a gun.

A 16-year-old boy is facing multiple charges after authorities say he brought a gun into his school and threatened to kill another student.

An adult female trainer who works with the school’s athletics program stepped in front of the suspect, shielding the student who was being threatened and told the suspect to leave.
