Writer Mark Hume and fly-fishing master Mo Bradley expose the amazing Kamloops area trout.

208 pages, $22.95

Hume gets in about a month of fishing a year, heading back time and again to take on the feisty fish found in one of the best areas for fishing in British Columbia. As Hellobc.com notes, drive 20 minutes in any direction from Kamloops and arrive at a lake. The writer began as a little kid and “just picked it up, like a natural.”

A: To fly-fishermen from around the world, the fish and the area around Kamloops really has been seen as a must-go fly-fishing region since it was first popularized in the 1920s. Part of the motivation of the book was to make more aware of that and get up there fishing these incredible rainbow trout that developed isolated in the area and have been transferred the world over as they adapt so well.

Q: I love the opening sentence of chapter four where you note “most fly boxes are works of art.” So is the art of tying them. This is a lot more than toolmaking isn’t it?
