SaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for October 31, 2023 | SaltWireCHÉTICAMP, N.S. — The School Sport Nova Scotia cross country provincial championships were held in Cape Breton last week with athletes from across the province competing.

In the senior women’s five-kilometre run, Abby Lewis of Lockview High School came in first place with a time of 17:18.6, followed by Zoe Mosher of Park View Education Centre at 17:36.7, Poppy Moon of Charles P. Allen High School at 18:13.0. Mollie Evers and Ava Millar, both of Bayview Education Centre, posted times of 19:24.3 and 19:25.2, respectively.

The women’s intermediate four-kilometre run saw Anna Carruthers finish in first place with a time of 14:54.8, followed by Sarah Wallace of Dr. J.H. Gillis High School at 15:09.3, Heidi Nuyens of Halifax Grammar School at 15:18.3, Petra LeBlanc of Baddeck Academy at 15:32.6, and Faye Chiasson at 15:41.0.

The women’s junior three-kilometre run was won by Emma Laycock of St. Agnes with a finish time of 11:08.0, followed closely by Carley Williams of Halifax Grammar School at 11:13.6, Morgan Clarke of Armbrae Academy at 11:16.2. Layla Austin of St. Andrew and Avery Mosher of Bridgewater round out the top five.
