OGDEN, Utah — A federal judge in California is weighing whether to dismiss a lawsuit filed against social media platforms by dozens of plaintiffs, including a Utah school district.

The Weber School District is among the plaintiffs. The school district's lawsuit is similar to the state of Utah's litigation against some platforms, which alleges addictive algorithms that harm the mental health of youth.

"Weber School District has been thoroughly documenting mental health problems in our schools, and have seen an increase in mental health-related problems in kids over the last decade. In response to this, we've more than doubled our mental health staff in our district just in the past two years to try and help students.
