Biden threatens to veto LGBT school lunches bill

President Joe Biden said he would veto Senate Republican efforts to overturn Department of Agriculture rules it says will protect LGBT people from discrimination in federally funded nutrition programs.

"No person in need of help should be turned away from a food bank or denied nutrition assistance just because of who they are or who they love," the White House's Office of Management and Budget wrote in a statement on Thursday."Like many Americans, LGBTQI+ households often turn to federal nutrition programs like SNAP when they experience food insecurity.

John Fetterman amplified the White House's criticism of Marshall's measure, saying he could not"believe that this resolution is even real."

"This makes it possible for some random lunch lady to deny lunch to a hungry child because she says her God tells her to. School lunch should be free, and certainly free of judgment," he said. “Don’t we have better things to do in the upper chamber than picking on kids because of who they are?”
