As part of activities to commemorate Global Handwashing Day 2023 (GHWD) and promote proper hygiene education nationwide, one of Nigeria’s leading advocates for hygiene, Dettol, has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.

With the theme ‘Clean Hands Are Within Reach,’ the event, which was held in Abuja, last week, reaffirmed the hygiene advocate’s unwavering commitment to promoting regular and proper hand-washing education in Nigeria.

Delivering a goodwill message at the commemoration event in Abuja, External Communications and Partnerships Lead, Reckitt Sub-Saharan Africa, Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, said: “Handwashing with soap isn’t just a routine; it remains a cornerstone of hygiene, an act so simple yet profoundly impactful that has shown to break the chain of infections.

She further enjoined the Government to prioritise hygiene and allocate resources to address the statistics. “Governments, non-governmental organisations, private sector and individuals all have a role to play in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages,” she said.

Barring a repeal of the pension law for former governors in their states, a total of seven serving ministers and the Secretary to Government of the Federation shall be entitled to pension largesse worth over N2.4 billion a year.
