The province has released the broad lines of the new sex-ed curriculum in an announcement that also lays out its plans for other aspects of the education sector, including class sizes and teacher hiring.
The curriculum will replace an interim teaching plan based on 1998 materials that was put in place last year after the Progressive Conservatives repealed a 2015 curriculum from the previous Liberal government. The 2015 curriculum addressed consent, online bullying, sexting, same-sex relationships and gender identity.
The province previously held an online consultation on the issue and an overwhelming majority of those who weighed in through that forum in the first day opposed the decision to scrap the 2015 curriculum. The province says parents will still be able to opt out of having their kids exposed to certain topics in the sex-ed class, and the ministry will issue online modules for those who want guidance on discussing those topics at home.

Laying out the scientific facts about sex and gender, and discussing some of the sociological issues around gender dysmorphia, is reasonable. Proselytising ideologies is not. Parents should be allowed to opt out if the curriculum goes against their beliefs.
How about we let the kids be kids, and ford can finally come out of the closet.
One way to ensure funds for the Autism Program is to eliminate the Catholic School Board and move forward with ONE Public School Board in Ontario and across Canada for that matter, religion is a personal preference and should be taught on personal time not through our schools!
Should teach kids about how to manage finances. The power of saving and investing. The dangers of borrowing and interest.

It is not the quantity of students that is the issue, it is the quality. Go back to removal of unruly students at 16, bring back discipline & high expectations and a class of 30 would not be as challenging as class of 17 who are disruptive & unmotivated to learn.

Pleased to see 'gender identity' and 'consent' remain in OnPoli SexEd Sexual Education Curriculum yet I am certain grade 8 would have been too late for me. Not liking the parental opt-out as well, especially for children like myself growing up without supportive environments.
Consent of course but to teach the young that gender identity/expression is healthy is unbelievable. What next, anorexia and bulimia are also healthy because the sufferers feel/identify as obese. You had the opportunity to end this madness and blew it fordnation.
