The American Federation of Teachers president will be visiting the Lincoln-West School of Science and Health Tuesday to discuss the school’s pathway programs leading students to college and careers.

Officials say Randi Weingarten will be joined by Mayor Justin Bibb, US Department of Education Assistant Secretary Dr. Amy Loyd and Cleveland Teachers Union President Shari Obrenski in highlighting courses crafted in partnership with The MetroHealth System.

The learning model used at Lincoln-West gives students the opportunity to gain real-world experiences and assists them finding careers anf higher education in health care and related fields, according to a press release. The tour is a part of the AFT’s “Real Solutions for Kids and Communities” campaign and “Code Red” healthcare campaign, officials say.Copyright 2023 WOIO. All rights reserved.
