Tens of thousands of school and university students have gathered in Australian cities, joining a global movement of young people demanding serious action on climate change.

But it wasn't just the capital cities that jumped on board, with events planned for Orange, Tamworth, Bendigo, Mackay, Port Macquarie, Alice Springs and more.

The country-wide strike comes months after students first skipped school for the Strike 4 Climate Action protests, which brought thousands of kids out onto Australian streets - sparking condemnation from Prime Minister Scott Morrison. "What we want is more learning in schools and less activism in schools," Mr Morrison said at the time.

WHY haven't the schools exerted their authority over the students protesting in school hours and WHY haven't the Parents also done their job. Protest on a weekend in their own leisure time. Would many do so then? One wonders.

'Quickest, cheapest' way to boost Sydney's train servicesWhile tens of billions are ploughed into new metro rail lines, London's Tube is a lesson on how to significantly increase train services in Sydney. Mattonews Then do it. What's 3 billion to fix a vital part of this city when people find it acceptable to throw 2 billion at rebuilding a couple of stadiums? Mattonews So why wasn't this done rather than the wasteful CBD- eastern suburbs light rail? Mattonews Why would they do something as logical as that.
