Justices issued a 4-3 decision that reinstated a wrongful death lawsuit and overturned a lower court ruling that the lawsuit was prohibited by a 2005 federal law that shields gun manufacturers from liability in most cases when their products are used in crimes.
Lanza, 20, shot his way into the locked school in Newtown on Dec. 14, 2012, and killed 20 first-graders and six educators with a Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifle, similar to an AR-15. He shot his mother to death in their Newtown home beforehand, and killed himself as police arrived at the school. "The families' goal has always been to shed light on Remington's calculated and profit-driven strategy to expand the AR-15 market and court high-risk users, all at the expense of Americans' safety," Koskoff said Thursday. "Today's decision is a critical step toward achieving that goal."
That’s fucking ridiculous
No other product has that zero liability, why would guns
“A main goal of the lawsuit is to stop Remington and other gun makers from gearing their advertising toward troubled young men.” Probably will fail
So we can Sue auto makers for people murdered in traffic crashes?
Absolute rubbish. Stop pushing responsibility and liability on LAW BIDING companies
I guess I have to sue crown royal for making me fall down that time and Yamaha for when I crashed that motorcycle. Oh yeah and Pizza Hut for my blood pressure and fitness level. No one in this society is responsible for their actions anymore
These comments clearly show that NO one reads the articles. 🙄
If this is allowed to stand, the government will be in quite a pickle when someone errantly shot by the cops sues Glock and effectively ends the supply of pistols for the government’s own goons.
Idiocy
Good! Tabacco gets sued for cancer. Gun makers are no different.
berley7030 And when it gets thrown out will they pay the legal bills?
people seriously don’t understand the idea of personal responsibility and are ALWAYS trying to find a scapegoat to such atrocities. i can’t believe adults are making these decisions.
Guns don't kill people, remember that old expression, So should I sue Kraft for malnutrition for eating KD & kids eating cheese slices. Need I go on, how stupid that judge sounds!
Looks like a semi-auto hunting rifle shaped like a military 'assault rifle'. Looks like another Spoons make you fat argument.
Just another start of endless litigation and appeals of prior rulings, until it reaches the SCOTUS level, and they'll support the The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), as they should. Lower courts make bad rulings all the time that contradict lawful legislation.
Wow. Might as well ban cars, trucks, knives etc.
Go ahead.... Take responsibility away from where it lies.... See what happens next! ( It'll be used as a defense)
That will not stand for long in the US.
