A primary school playground has been transformed in Tuxford thanks to a £56,000 upgrade. The funds for the playground at the Tuxford Primary Academy were raised through donations from the local council and capital funds from the Diverse Academies Trust.
The space has been brought to life this term with new equipment and spaces for pupils to explore. The new playground was created as part of the academy’s commitment to providing the best possible learning environment for all children, starting from the very first day of school. The outside area now provides pupils with opportunities to develop their physical, social and emotional skills in a safe and stimulating environment. Principal Tracy Blacknell said: “The area, which is shared by nursery and reception classes, looks incredible and the children have enjoyed exploring their new environment.
The new area includes an upgrade to the flooring, spaces for imaginative play, as road to develop balance and co-ordination and a mud kitchen where pupils can get messy and creative. There are also climbing blocks for pupils to develop their physical skills There is also an outside tap for water play. The new outdoor area is a valuable asset to the early years provision and staff are looking forward to many years of enjoyment and creative learning thanks to the upgrade.
