'They're not doing their jobs properly': Students to walk out of schools for climate strike | pallavisinghal_

Danielle Villafana-Pore and her classmates are among tens of thousands of students who will be skipping half a day of school on Friday to demand more action on climate change, despite warnings that schools may take disciplinary action against absent pupils.

"I'm striking because I feel like I owe it to the generation after me, the earth is not single use, we only have one and we need to preserve it," said Danielle, 15, who is in year 10 at Fort Street High School."Our generation can't vote but what we can do is have our voices heard nonetheless and policymakers and those who can vote need to see this matters to us.

"Personally I feel like the government's just saying climate change is there, you guys should recycle, but there's nothing being enforced here," Manit said."Mum said to make sure I don't miss too much school but they know it's for a good cause, they understand climate change is an important issue and feel that I should be able to have a say in a matter that will affect me a lot," Manit said.

"Number one is to stop [the new Carmichael coal mine in Queensland proposed by] Adani, two is no new coal or gas [mines] in Australia and three is [generating] 100 per cent of energy through renewables by 2030," Anica said.

pallavisinghal_ With America’s ‘clean coal’ flagship dead, is the concept still credible?

pallavisinghal_ Are they happy to do this on the weekend

pallavisinghal_ You mean the teachers?

jocksjig pallavisinghal_ And how many days have our pollies been MIA...this is a last resort for our kids being that its their future. Bigbiz thinks they can go and find another planet JUST like Earth... well how long have we been looking & how many $$$ with no luck. WAKE UP ppl this is IT.

pallavisinghal_ Go back to school and stop wagging!

pallavisinghal_ This debunks the protest, thousands of years of data and a yearly weather calendar

pallavisinghal_ This also proves its all about using acre tactics for money,

pallavisinghal_ let me tell you kids Politicians r slaves of their donors so money interest is pushing them against public good Trailing comm is prime example NSW LNP has allowed 3 new coal mines in few years You can thank Gladys for d treachery

pallavisinghal_ Great that they're exercising critical thinking but it still sounds like a bunch of entitled little shits

pallavisinghal_ Looks like school has become a Communist training ground for useful idots. Close the schools down, this is a waste of tax payers money pandering to the socialist left asupol vicpol

pallavisinghal_ Give up your weekend and I’ll be more impressed.

pallavisinghal_ Everyone in politics should be ashamed that people too young to vote, have decided that this is their only option.

pallavisinghal_ Shouldn’t they protest in front of Chinese Embassy in Canberra? After all China is still increasing their emission and building new coal power stations.

pallavisinghal_ They should protest climate change by not using ipads, netflix or smartphones. Another generation of hypocrites, no better than their parents.

pallavisinghal_ I wonder if the march was at 7am how many would turn up? Would they be prepared to go without Aircon through summer. Maybe walk to school. Haha in fact most of them wouldn’t know their arse from their elbow😁

pallavisinghal_ Go to school or have a day off with friends in the city? Deeeer it’s nothing to do with climate change. Australian media is so dumb it’s not even a story

pallavisinghal_ Once again teenagers thinking they know everything from parents who think they know everything. Except when they don’t get their way the first thing they say is “what do you know?”

pallavisinghal_ Pint-sized narcissists from the most pampered generation in history being exploited by adults, who aren’t doing their jobs properly.

pallavisinghal_ Maybe the carbon tax was a good idea after all...would solved budget deficit, stop the 40* days, water would have run the Darling River, no dead fish etc...

pallavisinghal_ Get back in your box and come back when you are grown up.

pallavisinghal_ The reality is they are not shutting down essential services or industries. At the highest they are disrupting their own lives. Storm in a tea cup

pallavisinghal_ It's their future they are protesting about, not some political bull shit.
