Nag-init ang nagdedepensang Ateneo de Manila University sa third period para dagitin ang University of Santo Tomas, 97-77, sa UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament ka­ha­pon sa MOA Arena.

Bumangon ang Blue Eagles mula sa overtime loss sa Far Eastern Univer­sity Tamaraws para ilista ang 3-3 kartada.“I know their record doesn’t flatter them but all the teams that played against them know how tough they are,” sabi ni Ate­­neo head coach Tab Baldwin sa UST team ni mentor Pido Ja­rencio.

Naibaba naman ito ng Growling Tigers sa 58-62 sa likod nina Migs Pangi­linan, Angelo Crisostomo, Christian Manaytay, Nic Cabañero at Ivanne Calum.Sa unang laro, pinabagsak ng National University ang University of the East, 68-49, para sa kanilang ikatlong dikit na ratsada. Matapos ang pitong di­kit na kamalasan ay natikman na rin ng ‘three-peat’ champions Letran College ang unang panalo sa NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament.
