Week nine of Texas football is here and playoff races are taking shape. See how local area teams are faring in Class 6A, 5A and 4A. Who will make the playoffs?

Special to the Star-TelegramSome Fort Worth-area schools are on the fast track to the postseason while others need every win they can muster. Here are 10 storylines to keep an eye on heading into week nine. is tied with Hurst L.D. Bell for fourth in the district standings, and Euless Trinity sits at third. It’ll be a close race in a competitive district, but only four teams will come out of the regular season with postseason bids.

They have two winnable games remaining against Haltom and Keller Central . They play the Buffaloes on Friday. The biggest test remaining for the Falcons will be on Friday, October 27, when they face Keller . The Indians had a solid start to the season but are coming off two blowout losses. will face Arlington Lamar this Friday with playoff positioning on the line. Whichever team loses will be fifth in the district and in danger of the season ending early.

A win this week will put the victor in fourth place and also provide a tiebreaker that may be valuable down the line. The loser could potentially fall out of the top four if The Colony defeats Azle on Friday. and head coach Ged Kates are undefeated through week eight, but they’ll have some tough competition in the next two weeks. First, they’ll play Birdville , a team they lost to in 2022.
