SAN ANTONIO - On Monday night hundreds of parents and students attended the San Antonio Independent School District board meeting to voice their concerns over the district’s rightsizing plan that would close 19 school campuses.
“There are numerous school communities throughout the district that are fighting to keep their schools open,” said Alejandra Lopez, President of the San Antonio Alliance of Teachers and Support Personnel. “It is my hope, and I’m sure the hope of my colleagues up here that the plan changes,” said Christina Martinez, President of the SAISD Board of Trustees.
“It’s actually the rating of the school, they’re all ‘C’ schools so to us sending thriving kids that are in a ‘B’ rating school, it’s actually going to bring them down,” said Denise Fernandez, a parent.
