Edge Hill University now increased patrols around the university

Barbara Burke, 45, from Croxteth, said she thought her daughter Elizabeth, 20, had been attacked when she picked up the late night call on Thursday, October 12. Elizabeth, a student at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, had parked with her boyfriend in a car park in front of the main university building.

The ECHO spoke to Elizabeth's mum Barbara following the incident, which occurred just before midnight on Wednesday, October 11. She appealed to anyone who may have seen the items to get in touch, and encouraged others - especially young people - to be extra vigilant. "I panicked on the drive down to her. We went to look around the ground and bins but we only found other bags. We found just other bits and bobs.

“We have passed evidence over to the police to assist with their investigation and we would encourage anyone with information about this incident to contact Lancashire Police urgently."
