Joshua Reynolds, a famous portrait painter, was educated at Plympton Grammar School in the 1700s.

The former Plympton Grammar School will be sold at auction along with a neighbouring Victorian houseJoshua Reynolds, born in 1723, attended Plympton Grammar School in Plympton St Maurice, Plymouth.Historian Nigel Davies said the Grade II-listed building, which was "a local landmark", would be up for sale on 19 October.

The building where Mr Reynolds's father was schoolmaster is also up for auction along with a neighbouring Victorian house.Mr Davies said: "We're concerned really that the old building is preserved and made available for public use and visits.
