Huntsville’s Marlin Jones Jr. got 19,754 votes to run away with the honors. Jones was a workhorse for the Panthers in a 36-7 win over Albertville. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound junior carried the ball 30 times for 169 yards and scored four touchdowns in the win.North Jackson quarterback Jonathan Linderman finished second in the balloting after running for 119 yards and two TDs, throwing for 165 yards and another touchdown and converting a 2-point play in the Chiefs’ 36-20 win at New Hope.
Randolph quarterback William Mitchell was third in the voting after throwing three touchdown passes for the Raiders in a 46-26 win over Madison County. Voting for Huntsville Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday.
