The Nigerian Army says it has commenced “comprehensive forensic investigation” to ascertain validity of the video footages showing its men invading the home of Rivers state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja.
Rivers Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has further raised alarm over perceived similar attacks on the Okochiri Palace of ex-militant leader, now King Ateke Tom in Okrika local government, as the party lost claimed over “50 houses belonging to prominent PDP members across the state have been destroyed PDP members held hostage for no justification.”
The Army Spokesman, Musa, said, “In the view of these allegations, the NA categorically reiterate its position in the entire conduct of the 2019 General Elections as severally and consistently espoused and directed by the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai which is – NA is apolitical, neutral, impartial and will not compromise its constitutional roles under any guise”.
“Any military personnel confirmed involved in any professional misconduct would be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law. NA request well-meaning Nigerians to always forward genuine complaints and evidence of professional misconduct against any of its personnel for investigation and necessary action.”
Ex-Militant Leader, now King Ateke, of Okochiri Kingdom, Okrika LGA, Rivers state, reportedly scaled a palace fence to escape when the Army allegedly invaded Thursday, but this lion, one of the wild pets was still safe in its den when newsmen visited the place yesterday.
