Everton’s inconsistent start to the season continued on Saturday when they were beaten by Luton Town at Goodison Park.
The Luton game seemed like the perfect game to play after such a successful week. But as we all know, this is not a normal football club. This was not a normal result, but it was all too normal for Everton fans. On a positive note , on another day Dwight McNeil’s volley goes in, James Garner’s header smashes into the net, and Beto has his shooting boots on.
Sean Dyche has shown with the recent wins at Aston Villa and Brentford that he can set up his teams to play on the counterattack with devastating effect. Everton’s away form has improved considerably since the manager’s arrival. In their last 12 fixtures, they have won four, drawn six, and lost two. This shows that Everton have finally become dangerous opponents on their travels.
The sight of fans streaming towards the exits well before the final whistle showed how disillusioned most Blues have become with this style of football. Whatever happened to the 'School of Science?'
