I am introducing a bill to make all school uniform policies gender neutral

Today I am introducing legislation in the House of Commons that would require school uniform policies to be gender neutral.

This issue was in fact first drawn to my attention by a young member of the Liberal Democrats who explained to me how exasperating it was that she wanted to play football at lunchtime, but felt she couldn’t because her school uniform policy meant she had to wear a skirt.I think this is something many women recognise – whether it was doing handstands or playing ‘it’ during our lunchtime, we’re held back by our clothes for no good reason at all.

This bill would not force all pupils to wear trousers but gives all children the option of wearing skirts, shorts or trousers, irrespective of their gender.

I think you’ll find at primary school, girls are not MADE to wear skirts.

This is bullshit. I loved wearing a skirt for PE.

I wore uniforms but we all had to play sport learn to swim and played football netball etc at playtime boys and girls i was a tomboy until I was 14

Ppppft! All kids of both genders are encouraged to do PE, with or without a skirt.

I just think this entire issue could be avoided by not forcing people to wear uniforms in the first place, a blazer for example is just funny it's like ur gogo gadget

Boys were told they couldn't wear short pants during last years heatwave, so they came up with dress code approved way of dealing with the heat. I like that.

I can't decide between religion or gender neutral I mean which one should i be, you get more rights and get away with literally anything, take a look at the cases it's like u are a superhuman, fair play to em for working out these flaws
