Through the sex clinic and the ability to connect with others on a real, intimate level due to their sexual issues, Otis, Maeve, and other characters were able to form a valuable community, which culminated in the touching funeral scene for Maeve's mother Erin , in which former students from Moordale came out to support Maeve despite being in different places in life.
