says Breanne McKean died when she suffered a “medical emergency” prior to Mapleton’s homecoming game against South Central. The game was suspended after the first half when students and others were notified of McKean’s death,
“Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the McKean family, friends and the Mapleton community,” the statement says. The school district canceled its homecoming dance Saturday and also has canceled all sporting events through Wednesday. The district says grief counselors will be available to students and staff members on Monday.
