The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is holding a film industry forum series Oct. 17-21, when some of the circuit’s biggest and brightest artists head to Newfoundland.The opening night feature is “Party Pirate” on Oct. 17, and on Oct. 21, “Queen of my Dreams” will debut to close the festival. PARTY PIRATE by award-winning alum Ruth Lawrence on Oct 17.

There will be many items for sale, including, tree skirts, toppers, placemats, aprons, runners, coasters, tea cosies, trivets and of course, lovely quilts. There will also be a large selection of adult and children’s knitted caps and mitts.Get your spook on at the Exceptional Connections NL Friday the 13th Spooky Trivia Fundraiser.

Spend an evening cooking in the great outdoors with the Kitchen Garden Cookery & Heritage School at O’Brien Farm. This one-day-only event runs from noon-5 p.m. and participants are encouraged to wear costumes if desired as they take a ride on the train.The radio drama broadcast that induced panic and shook the world in 1938, as listeners believed Martians had invaded, is coming to St. John’s.

From Oct. 19-21, 8 p.m., the broadcast will be performed at LSPU Hall. Tickets are $34.50 general and $20.50 for student/seniors.Head to the St. John’s Farmers’ Market Sunday, Oct. 15 for a special women-owned business market from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
