Recently, an 11-year-old student died after being struck on the head by a goalpost whilst at school in Bintulu. The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Bintulu Hospital, and police declared it as a sudden death.
Following the freak accident, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has ordered a check on all of its sporting facilities. In a statement, Fadhlina said the incident saddened her and that the ministry would reach out to the victim’s family to offer assistance.“To ensure the safety and well-being of students, the ministry will ensure that the state and district level education offices, as well as all schools, check all sports facilities and fields,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
