College student arrested for throwing sticks and beer cans at a bus shelter: University Heights police blotterUniversity Heights police responded to a call of two gunshots fired on Jackson Boulevard. A suspect was not found.At 2:55 a.m. Sept. 23, an officer was stationed on Milford Road, near Warrensville Center Road, when he heard loud, banging sounds. The officer walked the area and saw a male John Carroll University student throwing large sticks and beer cans at a glass bus shelter.
At 1:55 a.m. Sept. 18, dispatch received a hang-up 911 call that emanated from a Cranston Road home. Officers went to the home and found a woman in distress. The woman told officers that her boyfriend, the father of her child, had assaulted her. Police ordered the 40-year-old University Heights man out of the house and arrested him for domestic violence.At 3:10 p.m. Sept. 18, an employee of Heinen’s, 2180 S. Green Road, went to the police station to report the theft on Sept. 15 of $92.90 worth of groceries. The male suspect is known to the store and a warrant was issued for his arrest.At 1:45 a.m. Sept.
The driver, a Cleveland Heights man, 58, was cited for driving with a suspended license and without a valid license.At 3:10 p.m. Sept. 20, a man, 22, reported that a guest had stolen his gun from his home. The theft took place Sept. 6.At 4:15 p.m. Sept. 23, police responded to a noise complaint emanating from a Meadowbrook Boulevard home where a front lawn party was taking place. Officers explained that the music was too loud and told the hosts to turn down the volume to an acceptable level.
