A 21-year-old Fairhope man was found guilty Thursday of reckless manslaughter in the shooting death of former Fairhope High School football teammate and star C.J. Edwards, according to the Baldwin County Circuit Court.
Court records show Aiden Terrell Thompson was indicted on the manslaughter charge last November, roughly five months after the 22-year-old Edwards was shot dead during a house party at his home June 11, 2022. Although multiple guns were confiscated from the party and Fairhope police said at least three people fired weapons, evidence presented at trial tied Thompson to the shot that killed Edwards. Investigators also said at the time of Thompson’s arrest it appeared the shooting of Edwards had been unintentional, prompting a charge of reckless manslaughter, rather than murder.
Thompson and Edwards were teammates on the Fairhope High School football team in 2017. Edwards, a star receiver for the team, graduated from the school in 2018; Thompson in 2020.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
