Police received reports Monday evening from parents who'd seen the threat against the Middletown Area Middle School on social media.

District officials said Lower Swatara Township police contacted administrators Monday evening after parents made them aware of the threat.

“The Lower Swatara police department began their investigation and parents/guardians of students involved were contacted last evening,” the school district said. No criminal charges have been announced as of Tuesday. District officials and Lower Swatara police were on the middle school campus at the start of the school day Tuesday as a precaution.

“We greatly appreciate the swift and immediate action of our Lower Swatara Police Department last evening so we could open and operate our school safely this morning,” the school district said on Tuesday. “At this time, Lower Swatara Police have determined that there is no threat or immediate danger for students or staff at the Middle School.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
